I`ve just upgraded from Win 98 to Xp. All my desktop short cut icons were transfered to the new desktop.
i`ve given the kids their own accounts, so is there any way i can remove all their games shortcuts from my desk top, but leave them on the other accounts?
Conversely can I remove my icons from their desktops?

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop

Delete from there.

Powerless, tried that, but strangely in the named folders only shows 2 icons on the desktop, AVG 6 and Windows Media Player
They are all shown if you open"All Users" desktop? any more ideas appreciated

Put the icons from "All users" into the username-desktop folder.

Then anything that you want everyone to see leave in all users.

Sorry Powerless but can you spellout how i do that

Go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

Now find an icon that you want on your desktop, copy this icon (probably better to cut) and paste this icon into your deskttop folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop

The do the same for the little ones.

If you place the icons into there own desktop folders under:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop

They and you should see only the icns you want them to see.

If you see any other icons then they will be in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop so just delete them and they will vanish from all users desktop.

Thankyou Powerless, took a bit of time and some copying instead of cutting but eventually everyon`s happy
