Win xp to 7 upgrade

I have 3 PCs running XPsp3 I would like to upgrade to 7. As the 3 license packages of Win7 is no longer available what is the most cost effective way of upgrading? The Win 8 upgrade @ £100/PC doesn't appeal.

I can't answer your question directly, but have you run Microsoft's advisor to see if your XP machines are capable?

MS Advisor.

Thanks onthelimit1 yes my PC specs are ok for win7. Thanks Jockie, a bit dubious but I'll give this a try.

Jockie, this raises another point. Microsoft advises transferring drive C to external drive before installing win7. My laptop has one drive with two equal partitions C and D with D empty. Could I use 2nd partition as the 'external' drive?

bovthedog: why risk it?

You're right. My stuff is worth more than £30 for an external drive.
