I have a freind at work who has a computer running Windows ME, the only problem is that his CD Rom device driver has gone for a walkabout.. I have tried looking in the sysytem control Pannel but their is no device listed for the CD rom Drive can you please help as I haven't seen this problem before

Try a re-boot. The CD Rom should detect as a new device. Alternativly use system restore to restore to a point where the device is present.

CDrom does not use a separate driver it uses MSCDEX part of windows. go to Device Manager and if the CDrom is there click on it then remove it and restart the computer to let windows redetect it

PS it could be a faulty or loos cable
