roygbiv, If it is a clean install and the drive is already formatted, then it's really straight forward.

Please post back with the info. and someone will give instructions so that you can print them out for M-in-L to follow. J.

But she will need all the drivers for motherboard,Graphics card, Modem, etc

  woodchip 16:46 05 Feb 03

As the computer had 98 on it before

As i see it, the pc is a PATRIOT (AMD K6 2-400) with modem, sound and grapics on board, Am i right in thinging that windows "should" detect these or does it need a extra driver for that?.
(this is hard as the pc isnot at my address,i am doiing this by memory!!!!) sorry!!.

Depending how long and where she bought it you may have a restore disc or Win98se full can you confirm if it's a restore disc then it will more than likely have the drivers on the disc if it's full 98se the it will need the drivers if she as not got them on separate disc's it will work with generic drivers for graphics but will work better with the right ones

Thanks, I don't think any drivers came with it.(just the 98SE disc) it is 3 or 4 years old, from CURRYs. I will let you know more when i do !!
