Win 98SE Hangs on Startup

  Prewch 09:06 11 Aug 05

I have the following problem:-

Startup runs OK Windows Splash screen etc right up to the final B&W screen showing the autoexec.bat stuff just before the desktop appears. It then hangs on that B&W screen.

When I reboot it recognises that windows failed to load fully and puts me into the option screen with 3 (Safe mode) selected. If I then select 1 (Normal) Windows continues to load perfectly OK all the way.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If still having problems, keep tapping the F8 key while booting up and go into Safe mode then go to Start/ Run and type SFC in the box, click OK.
This will run the System File Checker and check that your System Files are not corrupt.
You may need your Win 98SE CD disc.
