What are the minimum specs for running windows 98se. microsoft recomends 24mb ram minimum but some sites say you can run it with just 16mb ram. does anybody know of people installing win98se with less than 24mb ram?

I do... Me...

One of my old systems only had 16megs (I know) memory. Win98 installed but was very slow at booting. At one time, I had a problem with it, and I asked a friend to look at it (didn't have the installation disks at that time). He boosted the memory to 23megs (again, I know) and Win98 was working perfectly.

so i would be best off trying to get a memory upgrade?

I think it may work (but not very well). My system crashed through me mucking around with the registry.

But, yes.... Best to get a memory upgrade.
