been trying to sort this pc out for a couple of days now scandisk/defrag both run in safe mode cookies/history etc/disk clean up. problem is that when in the yahoo browser one can get to about three sites then pc just slows to a crawl and eventually does nothing. ran the netsky removal tool from a floppy which found nothing, tried an on line virus scan at pcpitstop but the 3.4 meg file on dial up could not be d/loaded before pc stopped. also for a long time now one cannot open explorer or oe without blue screen and error 0028:C003123B press any key etc, any idea how i could get a portable means of getting an av scan to the pc and running it?
cheers.

Put Win98 CD in computer stop setup running. then in run box typ SFC and run the program. you can also look for deleted files by clicking on the settings button and have a look there

How long you had the problem, as there will be 5 Registry Backups that windows as created. may be worth a try close to DOS and type SCANREG/RESTORE choose a old date
