Win 2000 problem with keyboard typing.

  JoJoh 09:39 06 May 05

Hi - I am having a problem with the keyboard on a win2k machine. Certain letters do not type and instead open a function. For instance, if the letter "F" is typed then the search function appears. I have tried to change the keyboard but this has not altered things. I have also run the Win2k disk and the repair function but this also has not helped. I have re-loaded the keyboard driver, checked in control panel under accessibility and all settings seem to be fine.

Does anyone have an idea had to fix this problem?

Hi, do you mean that you have tried a different keyboard? If not, I would advise trying a different keyboard. If a different keyboard works. then that would point to your original one being faulty.

Check the Sticky Keys settings in "Accessibility Properties"

Thanks Guys, but tried all of these. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Me again - odd? you said that typing the letter F starts the Search function - but the letter f appears several times in your post - did that not start the Search function?

Function key F3 is meant to start the Search function.

Have you tried with F Lock on/off?
