Will Office 97 run OK under XP?

  rickus 17:10 13 Nov 05

I have my old disk for Office97 Pro.

Although I have loaded Open Office on to my new PC and it seems to run OK I am thinking that for certain docs, especially those to be used by Office users, I would be better off using Office 97.

Might I have any trouble loading XP onto my old PC which runs W98 and is unlikely to be networked again?

Thanks for the replies

I am assuming that the yes was to the question in the title and not the second question in the text!

yes, and no to the 98 question

the only trouble you may run up against loading XP is that the computer may not be up to it. It depends how old it is

what spec is your machine processor ram etc

  rickus 17:58 13 Nov 05

Thanks again.
It's about 5 years old.
Cannot get at it at the moment - what is the min spec needed?
I suppose I can always try it and then uninstall if any problems arise.

More RAM is desirable.

MS recon it will run on 300mhz processor 128 meg of ram it will but it will be painfully slow also you will need around 3gig free hard drive space for the o/s updates and security software AV and such like (a rough estimate may vary )

if it does not then in xp you can try to run it in windows compatibility mode i think you can find it in acceseries
