will deleting remnants of old progs help or not?

My laptop is about four years old and runs ok-ish as i have always been pretty good at running the relevant antivirus/spyware scans, defragging and disk checks. However, a while ago i used revo uninstaller to uninstall Nero but yet when i go to start>search and type in 'Nero' it finds several files/folders. The same goes for an old Bullguard antivirus program that i uninstalled ages ago.
My question is will deleting these type of files/folders help at all?

Probably will make no noticeable difference. Open c: go to programme files and delete the folders for bullguard and nero. Have you got ccleaner? If so running it should speed thing ups. It can be downloaded from filehippo.
