I have purchased this M/B click here
and an AMD Sempron 2800 AM2 cpu I cannot get it to post now I have just noticed that the m/b manual says it supports 64bit CPU's and I dont think the CPU is 64bit will this CPU not work with this M/B? Do I need to purchase a 64bit CPU?

It should work. Is this the CPU you bought click here ?

Do you not get a single beep?

I assume you have plugged the CPU power with the 12V pin?

Try clearing the BIOS and reboot.

Hi madboy33©® I got the CPU from a local shop but that looks like it. If I plug in the four pin plug nothing happens at all. If I plug in the 24pin then the CPU fan turns but no beeps and no post. Do I need to plug in both?

Hi LastChip have tried that nothing.

  User-312386 20:04 12 Dec 06

Both need to be plugged in

I have plugged both in and the CPU fan moves slightly as if it wants to go then nothing.

As said if I plug in both I get nothing if I plug in only the 24pin I get CPU and case fan activity.

LastChip just followed your link and at least I know it is not a compatability problem with the M/B and CPU. Thanks

Now that I know the CPU and M/B are compatable any thoughts on what could be faulty. I suspect either the M/B, CPU, RAM or maybe the PSU it is only 300W

The PSU has a 24 pin connector and a 12v 4pin connector, yet is just rated at 300W. It runs some fans when you just connect the 24 pins but stalls when you add the extra 4 pins.

It sounds as if the PSU is to weak. Can you try a higher rated PSU, have you got a spare one?
