Will 400mhz Ram run on my 266 mhz Motherboard ple?

I have an Asus A7A266 mobo with WIN XP.

I want to replace the existing memory with 2 sticks of 512mb DDR 400 MHZ ram.

The max my mobo is rated for is only 266mhz ram.

Will the 400mhz ram still work by running at 266mhz??

I want to do this to save me having to buy the 400mhz rated ram later when I upgrade the mobo and cpu.

It probably will as RAM is backwards compatible,ie....TT

it will run, but only at the spped at which your mobo can cope with. good idea if u plan to upgrade the mobo in the future

Excellent - Thanks guys.

This will save me having to pay out again for faster Ram when I upgrade in the near future.

All is well in BogeItAndScarper World :)
