Any recommendations, please?

I have a 3Com card. But got trouble with the port so I bought a 3Com USB dongle. I think you will see that I like 3Com.

After I got the Card working by putting a small screwdriver down the back edge of the slot

Can you use it with Wifi hotspots, as well as in the house?

Yes also good range. I think the PCMCIA is best but the USB works OK mine is the top one click here

I got 2 edimax ones from click here for under £30 a short time ago. No problems on both the laptops they are used in. Cheap cheerful and easy to use.

PS they are all the same on that link but bottom one is cheaper

PS when you go out with the Laptop it will pick up all computers running wireless, within range. Some protected and some not

Have seen other threads that have been complaining about PCMCIA wireless cards and USB do work well you should think about ones that work with WPA encryption for use in the home network as long as your router supports it.

Both 3Com card support it

Thanks, other unprotected wireless will do fine as I am on a capped deal at the moment!
