Hi everyone,
I am considering purchasing a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop that has 802.11 aerials built into it. Is this all you need to be able to use the "hot spots" that are appearing around the country? Also, if I want to be able to use the NTL broadband that is connected to my desktop PC do I need to have anything else installed in the laptop or buy anymore equipment? Thanks in advance.

Not sure about hotspots, but you shouldn't need anything else in the laptop.

You will need a wireless card for your desktop for basic Internet Connection Sharing. You can add a router to this if you want to use the laptop without the desktop switched on, and set up a small home network.
