WiFI connection issue

My Toshiba laptop has worked well for three years, I started using a O2 connection manage tongle recently while revelling but has worked without issue. Two days ago the internet was working fine, I put the computer in standby and when I came back the broadband connection was lost, the O2 connection manager says I need to enable WiFI. The WiFi button is turned on and on the system settings it is also listed as being on. Any ideas, I have know a bit about computers and have tried all the "basic" things already

Are you sure that you're in a mobile broadband reception area? National coverage is patchy.
