widows media player no burner error

  red dragon 19:49 07 Jun 07

I have had no problems using windows media player to burn cds to play in the car until now. I get the message "connect burner and restart" in windows media player.

I have also noticed that my cd/dvds don't autorun anymore either.

I have gone into properties and selected prompt me but nothing autoruns.

I am running XP pro sp2 media player 11 both drives are DVDRW

Thanks in advance.

Tried the link.
Says Autoplay V2 problems.

When I click fix it say drive malfunctioning or unrecognised problem.

Same error for both drives.

Make sure the "enable cd recording on this drive" box is ticked in each of the drives properties

You could also try deleting drives in device manager and let windows reinstall on boot

I'm with postie24 on that for a mo, the only drivers you need for optical devices are the ones supplied by your O/S.

Only other thing i can think of at the mo is itunes has been known to cause probs like this, haven't installed it lately have you..
