wi-fi motherboard question

A main pc motherboard that is wifi. Does this mean its like a centrino laptop and picks up a signal or does the m/b have a router incorporated in it. or could it be both or either.

thinking about ASUS wifi motherbords for example.

All it means is what it says, you can connect to a Router Wireless After first setting it up using a Ethernet cable
