why wont my new memory work

i have just got 128 sdram memory for my packard bell pc but it does'nt work when i put it in
when i take it out the computer work again
please can you help

have you got dust in the socket give it a blow is the memory stick in the right way is it all the way in i.e the side clips in place

steven42put the new mem in the slot that you already have mem in & put the origional in the empty slot,sometimes just putting them in different slots makes all the difference.Also is it branded memory?packard bell pc's can be a bit tempermental.

you could always try take out your old memory then put in just your new one it it works its ok if not take it bake to where u got it tell them its faulty.ps you do turn your pc of first before you try to install it dont you.

oh forgot to ask are the memory type the sam ie pc100/pc2100 ans so on it will sy on the memory stick

Maybe it's simply faulty. Did yu turn off the mains power before fiiting it? - not just simply by the normal means, but at the wall, or at a switch at the rear of the PSU - if there is one (a switch that is!)

hello to all thank you for you're advice i have tryed all sergestions but there is no luck i will take it back to the shop tomorrow/ monday my geuse is that it faulty thank you all again i will let you know what happens monday ps;the memory i have was 64 sdram pc133 the new one was 128 sdram pc133 i took my 64 to the shop and they gave me the 128 one so it must be faulty
i also did disconect it from the mains as i am realy scared of electric and i am aware of the static also
