why is PC Ad's designer so against legibility?

Looking back at old editions, the mag has been legible. So why did recent current editions use a font which turned the text into a grey fog? Or a blue fog in the case of that abortion Issue 100? My theory is that the designer is in the pay of a rival, who's trying to run PC Ad out of business.
Any other views?

Check out the current (March) edition. The designer has been listening!

Looking at the differences between issues 102 and 103 is what prompted my observations. Why all the foot-dragging before the mag was made more legible?
- apart from the star letter, of course! Why couldn't they have done it months ago?
There has to be more to this than meets the eye.
