why does safari have a problem with Hotmail

I have started using safari for PC as my IE is running really slow.I can get into hotmail ok, but then it wont let me mass delete e mails. Each time i click the next one to del it cancels the previous one. Any ideas? Also the browser seems to be unchangeably set to block 3rd party cookies which causes outrage in hotmail which then refuses to let me log out telling me to enable 3rd party cookies, which I cant and indeed don't want to! after all why should I allow hotmail advertisers to place cookies on my PC? does just closing the browser matter at this point ?
One more thing when i get asked the question as I apparently will, would selecting Firefox solve all the issues?
