Why does my PC Freeze and Reboot

  amyjen7 18:01 03 Mar 14

My computer of 7 years keeps either freezing or rebooting itself frequently. Not all the time or on a specific task. For example my wife worked on Microsoft Works for over 3 hrs together with the internet with a hitch today. When I took over first Internet Explorer 11 stopped responding, then the screen froze and the PC rebooted itself. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? All I can think of is my PC needs a spring clean of all the rubbish I have accumulated over the years but I don’t know how to go about this and what is safe to remove. Can anyone please help a 69 year old? I run Vista Home Premium. Thank you Keith

A spring clean of the internals would be a good starting point, clean all the dust from inside especially the fans and the heatsink.

Take a look at the Reliability Monitor to see if it's been recording what is making your machine crash.
