Why did US Customs look at my Computer Panel?

Greetings:

Recently, I entered the US. At Customs, the officer requested me to submit my “electronic media” devices for random inspection. I said no problem and passed them over. The Border Officer took my devices into a room and after some minutes, returned them to me. The Officer told me he had no concerns with anything on my devices, thanked me for co-operation, and said good-bye to me. Later I checked my laptop and found that the officer had left the “Control Panel” open on my laptop. I am just wondering what would they look at on my computer via the Control Panel or whatever? Just a curiosity question but if anyone would like to furnish me with any information it would be greatly appreciated.
