Which PC?

Hi

I am a student, and I want to buy a computer for around £500.
However, I am not sure what to buy and when to buy it.
Should I wait for the January Sales time?
Will £500 just buy a really slow computer with barely anything on it?

Thanks for your help.

but technical support will cost you and I hope that as soon as the warranty runs out the machine doesnt breakdown.
I had a customer who had a dell and the power supply went. I couldnt believe it, the cost was £110 +vat. You have to use a dell power supply cause they swap the motherboard pins and make the connectors to match.

One of these days I'm gonna make a converter for this.
