Which HDD

I want to install a second HDD but due to new technology I am going round in circles, my Mainboard supports Ultra DMA 66/100/133 and goes on to say install IDE devices that support UDMA and use an 80-pin IDE cable etc.
I usually buy from either Dabs or Novatech and can see HDD that have the 40 pin connection but none with 80.I do not have SATA

I suppose i could always look at what I have in and get the same.

It is a bit confusing but remember that it is the wide flat plastic IDE cable that is 80wire and 40 pin.

The IDE hard drive you want is just the standard 40 pin drive. So virtually any IDE hard drive will do.

Any of these 116 from dabs click here will work. The only limitation may be the size of drive your computer can accept.

Same with these from novatech click here

try and get a 7200 drive with either 8mb or 16mb cache. These are the best performers in IDE hard drives.

make sure the drive size is 3.5". lol

Or how about a external USB drive - I have two, they are great.

Thanks will take a look, my mind boggled after a while but hopefully will be clearer now.

Thought about external but decided to go for the internal.

Thanks again.
