Erm depends are you a gamer or jsut a normal user.

these are the options i go if i was gonna spend:

PNY GeForce 4 MX 400/440 64Mb or 128Mb for bouts £90

Novatech has a GeForce 4 for bout £45 64Mb (i think)

or if your a gammer

get the new Radion :D 9700 its pricy bouts 300squids!

(I've always wanted to say that!). I have just upgraded to Chaintech gForce4 Ti4200 128Mb from gForce2MX, cost £120 from Scan Today only.I use my PC mainly for FS2K2 and the difference is enormous. (OS ME + Duron 1.3). Good luck.

if ya geforce 3 is a high end model forget about geforce 4 mx cards, as ya g3 is probably faster. for the money ya wish to spend you should be able to get a geforc 4 ti4400

dont you lot understand? the Geforce4 uses the GeForce2 chipset which means it dont really run that much faster than the top end of a GeForce2 Ti to a G4. dont bother with a G4 get a Radion 9700 or 9700 Pro trust me (its a bit dear) but worth it cus im thinkin of gettin it at its out doing nVidia :)

Within your price range the GeForce4 Ti cards are the best. nightporter's is a good deal... and yes you will notice the difference.

Spudling is right Geforce4 is cack.

If you can't afford the 9700, go for the 9500.
The card is £100-150 cheaper (depending on Manufacturer) but still supports directX 9, DVI out etc. and its performance is only about 20% lower than the 9700.

It's the one I'm buying :)

While I agree the Radeon 9700 Pro is the best card available, you statment that the Geforce 4 doesn't run much faster than a Geforce2 is wrong. From my own experience and countless others, a good geforce4 (ti4200/4400/4600) performs considerably better than a Geforce 2.

You seem to know a great deal about this subject, you must have studied all night.

The GeForce 4 MX 400/440 is cack!

The ti range is another animal entirely.

As Spudling states the Geforce 4 MX runs no faster than the Geforce 2 ti - so why bother?
