hi
I looking to update my NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro , to play games and add a TFT screen too.

My budget is £150.00 can anyone suggest a good 128 mb card for this price? i have found loads but dont know which to choose?

£150 on card only?

if so,

Radeon 9500 Pro is about £114 + VAT

Its bcos my motherboard MS-6191 does not support AGP4X/8X VGA cards.so wouldn't i be right to go for the middel range graphic card ? or am i wrong...??

For me too, but I'm not sure that a TFT screen is a good idea for gaming. My understanding is that CRT monitors are better for this.

damn

If your board only supports 2x AGP your choices are limited.

Are you sure there's not a BIOS update that would at least bring it up to 4x ?

I have just check out MSI website I have most current BIOS Installed, no new updates , by the look of things this motherboard has been withdrawn from production /support too. Would I be ok to go in for 3D Prophet 9500 PRO Hercules
as per it spec it says
AGP 8X/4X/2X support for high-speed communication between the graphics board and the rest of the PC

yes that would be fine, and would also be fairly future proof so you could get a new Mobo and the card will work.

You won't get full benefit with 2xAGP, but that card is a good one.

Sapphire (I think) 3D Connect and others also make the 9500 PRO, so shop around.

Re Monitor.

I have a 19" Hitachi CM721F which I bought as a stop-gap until I could get the TFT I wanted. Was about £160.00.

To be honest, I'm in no rush to change it :) It came with a Continental plug, but I bought a UK one from Maplin for about £3.00 I think.

Save the money you would spend on a TFT (unless you HAVe to have one because of space) and get a new Mobo :)

Hitachi was bought here click here

cheers for the advise , it would be sensible to go in for a new motherboard and a new case.

As for the monitor i will still stick to my 18" crt for the time being . use it like it drops
