Which Firewall and Why?

Over the years after Dr.Solomon (remember that one?) I have used ZoneAlarm and Comodo for firewall and AVG or Avast for anti-virus

Have changed from one to another when they became bloated. Far too much trouble to avoid unwanted add-ons and the crafty ways they have of saying it is free when the free button is almost invisible.

Recently had a spate of PUP files which really shouldn't be there

My OS is XP sp3, - which items do you use for Av and malware generally, to stay out of trouble?

On all my computers I use Avast, SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes. use to have Zonealarm on XP but no longer, and W7 its own built-in firewall.

Over many years there have been very few problems on my computer's, but recently had 'MySearchDial' which is proving very hard to get rid of it.

Norton 360, because I participated in last year's beta test and because I usually favour Norton.

Just updated to the paid for version of malwarebytes as it, I'm told, gives some protection against the Cryptolocker virus. Free AVG with that. Rely on the router firewall.

XP - Avast realtime AV and antimalware

Sygate firewall

spwareblaster as a blocker

Malwarebytes as a back up scanner

Occasional check with AWDcleaner and Hitman pro to prove the above are working

Not seen any malware or virus for years with this setup
