Hi, My annual subscription for anti virus software is due on the 20th of this month.

I am using Norton Anti virus 2003, and it will cost me £21.00 or thereabouts to renew it for another year.
Has anybody got any suggestions before I make the renewal.

Thanks in advance ....Fred

Avast4 click here

or

AVG antivirus click here

are the best of the free ones as good as Norton for virus detection rates and far less intrusive than Norton.

Why pay? I've used AVG for ages and it does the job fine.

i am using norton internet 2003 and apart from taking its time doing scans has been very good

i have seen reviews about zonealarms internet security suite which get very good scores on detection rates

i intend to change to that one
if you do not buy from internet or online banking
i would try a free one

if you do shop buy the better ones for a few quid
why risk your credit card or bank details

AVG and Antivir, hzhzhz?

Having more than one AV can cause conflicts.

I use both of these on a regular basis along with beta 1 spybot, spyware doctor. My pc has run sweetly for ages.

You're probably right but I have not encountered any problems as yet.

I would not recommend changing the actual provider if possible. If you got on with the Norton AV why change £21 is not bad as long as the thing works. I had a major issue upgrading the symatec version due to a really uselless uninstaller. This was realy poor show by symatec. However if you do get an issue you may need support which Norton does have. It is OK for all to say "my PC has ran fine" but what happens if you have a problem? I have also used AVG & found it worked fine but you may have a problem unless you totally remove all of the Norton files. Then if you find you preferred Norton good luck on installing afer AVG was installed.
