Hi
Some one please help !!!

I have hp compaq laptop about 1 yr old
first problem I encountered was the blue screen phsysical memory dump issue
computer would get in a loop, you would start up,
it would start the dump then switch off, over and over again,
eventually it seemed to cure itself and didnt happen for a few months.

A few days ago some odd things happened.
My norton virus has disapered, icon has gone etc (subscription has not run out)
I cant open control panel
explorer wont open (although I can log onto yahoo msn and limewire with no probs)
full scans show no probs
all connections are normal, diagnostics says computer and connections all working fine
but still cant get explorer to open
physical memnory dump has started playing up again.

have noticed that saved videos play with poor quality now compared to a while ago.

tried a restore point about a month ago, but no change, internet web page still wont open.

any help greatly appreciated

thanks

Tony

When you say "Explorer wont open", it's not clear whether you mean Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer. If it's the former, press Ctrl, Alt and Delete (at the same time) to bring up the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab. From there you can go to File > New Task and type in: "Explorer.exe" (without the quotes) and click OK. That is, if explorer.exe isn't already listed as running in the Processes window.

To get to the Control Panel, go to SStart > Run and type in: "Control" (without the quotes) and click OK.

Another thing that comes to mind, when you mention about the bad video playback, is your graphics card resolution, do you have the latest drivers and what resolution are you at now? Are there any problems showing in Device Manager? Start > Run and type in: "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and click OK.
