Dear all,

I have a sandisk SD card that is 4Gb in size. When I plug it into my laptop card reader (texas instruments PCIxx12 cardbus controller) it doesnt recognise it.
I am trying to update the firmware for it but cant for the life of me find anywhere on the internet where i can get one!!
Driver version i have is apparently 5.1.2600.0 and the date is 01/07/2001.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

thanks in advance

The only drivers you will get for the card reader are at your Laptop Site

really? I have just tried that and it doesnt seem to have changed anything. Its still not recognising my 4gb SD card.

Otherwise if i cant update this can anyone recommend a cheap card reader that does read 4gb SD cards?!

thanks

Qestion, Is your Hard Drive Fat32 or NTFS? as if it's Fat32 it cannot read more than 4Gb. This may be your problem

thats a point. I think its fat32 on my laptop....but why should that matter if its an external SD card? so even if i get a card reader it still wont work? (unless i reformat my HDD?).

do all card readers read higher capacity cards? (assuming i keep my HDD formatted as fat 32). I am also buying an external HDD. Would that work?

would this one work?

Fat 32 cannot read I think the 4Gb card just as its Fat 32 the limit is stopping it, buying a new card reader will not sort the problem. Only thing you can do is change the file Format to NTFS, this you should be able to do without losing Info.. Only problem is, if you only have a restore disc if anything goes wrong. The Restore disc may not work
