Where do I get powered USB hub with Lucent Chipset

I am now told by Pipex thatmy BB modem keeps failing to boot up because of a power issue.

I have tried, on their advice: -

1. New USB drivers.
2. Latest modem drivers.
3. Disabling all power management thingys in the BIOS and in XP.

They have told me to buy a powered USB hub with a Lucent chipset. How do I know if I am getting the right product please?

Sorry Halmer but hubs do not have chipsets (controllers).

The Lucent USB 1.1 chipsets were in various PCI USB adapter cards - Belkin QuadraPort for one.

USB 1.1 PCI Adapter cards are becoming hard to find as we have moved on to USB 2.0, and a suitable adapter card with this technology will have the NEC chipset.

On the other hand, you might just try a USB 1.1 hub if the issue really is a power problem. Beg, borrow or legally acquire one to test if possible.

I recommend the belkin 4 port models:
F5U021 or F5U101.

I have purchased the Belkin 4 port this morning for £20.

I will post back with results as it may help others.
