How do I set my pc to disconnect from the internet after so many minutes? I have used this option before and just cannot find the box.

Tools>Internet Options> where?

Open the Control Panel and double click on Internet Options.

Click the Connections tab, highlight your dialup connection and click the Settings button.

Click the Advanced button in the Dial-up Settings section of the screen.

Tick Disconnect if idle for X minutes.

OK your way out. The new settings should take effect the next time you connect.

Many thanks. I missed the 'advanced' button at the end.

Wish I had opened this page yesterday - I forgot to disconnect at 6pm, and only noticed at 9. Grr.............. Four hours at xp per minute. Actually, PCAdvisor's notification of replies wasn't there until this morning.
