Just had an e-mail purporting to be from SunTrust issuing a "warning" about Microsoft Internet Explorer security holes.

It invites you to download a test for the security of your system and concludes:

"SunTrust security systems require that you test your browser now to see if it meets the requirements for SunTrust Internet Banking; sign on to Internet Banking in order to verify security update installation.

"This security update will be effective immediately. In the meantime, some of the Internet Banking services may not be available."

I don't have "SunTrust Internet Banking", but the neat layout and appearance of this e-mail might just persuade some of its customers that it is, in fact, genuine.

If, in the meantime, some of the Internet Banking services are not available, you might not be surprised......
