I would like to know what people recommend to use on their PC for security.

Here's what I use (and what I recommend my friends use):

AVG (free edition)
ZoneAlarm Pro (free edition)
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spybot Search and Destroy
Firefox Browser

All that, with a little common sense :-)

Actually, I prefer Avast and have nVidia's firewall which came with my motherboard but a similar setup.

Spyware Blaster is one more click here

I have NOD32

MacAfee personal Firewall (free with AOL)

Adaware

Spybot S&D

SpywareBlaster

A regular clean up with Ccleaner

I use Firefox and Thunderbird for web browsing and email.

I was also using Microsoft Antipyware Beta but have removed that for the moment since it hadn't found anything for months......ever since I started using NOD32 in fact.Adaware and Spybot always come up clean too.

AVG free, MS Antispy although I have not scanned for 3 weeks and no firewall for 4 years + a lot of common sense. If you have no common sense no amount of AVs' or firewalls will help you. I never have any problems.

I use AVG (free edition), ZoneAlarm Pro (free edition), Ad-Aware SE Personal & Spybot Search, Destroy adn CCleaner.

I have gone back to AVG after using Avast. I found Avast to be a poor substitute for AVG as Avast did not detect a virus and Trojan on my PC.

Avast! (free edition)
ZoneAlarm Pro
CCleaner
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
A-Squared
Acronis True Image
Microsoft Anti-Spyware

As others have said, I use my inteligence as well. No matter what programs you use, if you don't use your inteligence, you are still at risk!!!
