I have 2 computer, whats the chepest way to conect the 2 computers togeather

I am a novice in networking so I will need all instruction for software settings
and what hardware cards to get.

Im not frightend about opening up my computers as I built both from scratch
for just under 200 POUNDS

I want both computers to transfer files to each other, both use one combo drive ,
both Use one printer, both use one modem and both be able to serf the www
at the same time via one 56K modem.

Computer 1

windows 98 se
4 X USB 2
internal 56K modem that I want both computers to use at the same time.
10/100 ethernet conection built in to the mother board
DVD CDRW CDR CD combo drive that I want both computers
to use for burning with nero burning software
seperat 32 speed cd rom drive
flopy drive
sound card and speakers

Computer 2

windows 98 se
2 X usb 1
flopy drive
40 speed cd rom drive
sound card and speakers

You will need to add an ethernet card to computer 2 (cost < £10) and then could use a Cross over cable (cost ~£10 for 10m cable) to connect the two.

You would then just need to enable file and print sharing, put both computers in the same workgroup and away you go. To use one internet connection will involve setting up ICS.

Get the network bit sorted first then post if you have problems sorting the extra bits.

Trying to share a 56k connection will be incredibly frustrationg I also believe that only one computer will have access at any one time and will not simultaneous access.
