Hi there

This is not a problem as such, but I was just wondering what free programs people install with their Windows OS.

For example, I install:-
AVG - for Anti Virus
SUPERantispyware
SIW - for system information
vlc - to play DVDs, etc
Adobe Acrobat - to read PDF files

any more?

Ccleaner - number one for regular cleanups.
CDBurnerXP - for burning CDs and DVDs.
Firefox - for web browsing.
Google Earth - for surfing the planet.
BBC iPlayer - for catching up on BBC programmes.
Crossloop - for remote access to other people's computers (with their permission!)
Recuva - for recovering corrupted files
Google Picasa - for photo management

... to name but a few!

Many of the above, plus

MMTaskbar for easy switching between screens
IrfanView - a wonderfully simple image file editor (for when e.g. Photoshop is overkill)
hdi.exe - a little utility that puts a disk activity light in your system tray - easy to see, and my PC doesn't have an HD light on the case anyway
CDex - an audio file converter that I've always used
Google Desktop - absolutely invaluable for finding the file you've 'lost'

Omitted from my list: CCleaner, my most used utility
and, Emsisoft Emergency Kit which is portable so handy if you sometimes need to scan other people's pc's.

I think this thread has become a game of "software upmanship"!
