What spec PC for a civil engineer

My cousin is a civil engineer and uses Autocad quite a lot. He also does some house design for a project he is involved in.

He is considering getting a new PC and would like to know what spec would be advisable.

ps: He is not a game player.

ask him what he wants out of it, or what will the one he has now not do.............

His exiting one is about 5 years old. It does the work for him, but is very s-l-o-w.

More memory is obvious, so is a reasonably fast processor and good largish TFT monitor, but what sort of graphic card would be recommended for Autocad use.

Check out the system requirements for whatever version of Autocad that's to be used click here indicates that Autocad Mechanical at least is a real RAM hog. Considering the additional requirements for Windows, AV etc I'd suggest IGb of RAM at least.
