What programmes should be running at start up?

  Amer 16:29 03 Dec 04

Is there any way of knowing what all the numerous programmes at start up are doing? When I run msconfig and look at start menu, there are many programmes which I kmnow nothing about but I dont want to disable in case they are important. I have disabled the obvious ones that I dont use, e.g MS Messenger, Quicktime etc. But there are so many others.

In particular I want to know what cjhaoac is

Any help appreciated

Start/run and type,

Into the box then click OK or hit the enter key. This will bring up the list of services running and if you left click on each one, information to that application or service will be displayed in the left hand pane. Much better than typing MSCONFIG then looking from the start-up tab.
