What is the Optimum Laptop ram ?

Hi All.

I saw an article/review sometime last year that discussed ram size in laptops, from what I can remember it had something on the lines that above a certain point e.g 3 gb that increasing ram size after that had very little benefit.

Sadly I can't remember where I saw it mentioned.

Is this true and why ?

The other question: why are mac's so expensive, i've looking at some lately and even the cheapest is over £900.

RAM... a 32 bit operating system can't "see" more than around 3gb

MAC's are/were ? always Niche market product...
You want one... so you have to pay their price premium. Theres no competition.
