What motherboard

Can someone tell me,i have a P4 1.7 computer,i am building my own computer but cannot afford the processor upgrade for quite a while,How can i tell what socket my 1.7 is in,and if i transfer my present motherboard to my new set-up can i put a faster p4 in this socket or on this motherboard,when i can afford to do so.

If you download and install this program it will give all the details of your PC,you will then be able to identify make of motherboard which will give us a clue to which P4 you have 423 or 478 pin

Hi, Personally I would stick with the 1.7 P4. You could put a 2.5 in and you wouldn't see any difference in performance. Cheers, Bill
