What is Modem on Hold and do I need it?

In an effort to clean up my slow PC I have been trying to remove unneccesary programmes.
We have a 'Modem on Hold V.92 application, but am not sure why as we are on wireless broadband - Wanadoo's talk package. I know this involves some connection to the phone line but I thought that Modem on Hold is designed for dial up users.

Should I get rid of it?

Well, it's definitely to do with a dial up modem, and therefore I think you could safely delete it. However, it's unlikely to have much (if any) of an effect on the speed of your machine.
