what modem do i have - compaq presario 1215 laptop

  pookie 23:42 13 Oct 03

formatted the above laptop and replaced windows 95 with 98se. i have got nearly all the drivers downloaded from hp.com site. but it only has a modem driver update as opposed to actual modem driver and even then it's only an update if your modem is type and make xxxxxx. How can i find out what is my modem make and where to install driver from?

many thanks

Try running Belarc Advisor click here or Aida32 click here they should tell you which modem you have, pookie.

hi MAJ

tried belarc and it doesn't show modem - says no pci communication device detected - any ideas?

click here then put "presario 1215" into the search box, then put a dot in the drivers and software circle, click on search then win98 and choose 1215ea. It shows a driver for a Conextant combo modem. 1.4 mb download. j.

Try Aida32, as MAJ suggestion.Could also suggest Sandra, but this programme can give problems. Also perhaps click here freebie could help.

Go into Control Panel>Add New Hardware and select Standard Modem from the list. After installation you should see Modem under Device Manager, you can select the speed 33.6, 55.6 etc from the Dialling Properties under Modems in Control Panel.
