what is a mapped network drive?

A mapped network drive is where you assign a drive letter on a client PC to a folder/drive/path on the server.

For example lets say you have a server called Donkey and Donkey has a share called Carrot.

You could map the drive H: on your PC to \\donkey\carrot and then you would be able to go to your H: drive and not to \\donkey\carrot

hmmm...perhaps not the best explination but it makes my point!

Mapping a drive allows you to access any file that you may have on there.
