what laptop brands to avoid.

Looking at replacing my desktop with a laptop
I am not into gaming, just general surfing, email
and downloading of itunes tracks. what brands to avoid and what do you recommend ?

seconhand laptops there's no gurantee they will do the job they claim they can do

I would read plenty of reviews aswell as asking for peoples advice.If you buy from a shop make sure you know what you want from it cos shop assisstants will just tell you what you want to hear :-)

I would agree with ronalddonald. But, you can get a good 'refurbished laptop' at reasonable price from many places.

Refurbished does not mean there's anything wrong with it, just that it's been sent back for some unknown reason and, usually put back in top condition by the maker/supplier. I've bought a few of these for people and never had a comeback.

Or, you could buy the same thing brand new for nearly twice the price.

Consider well.
