What is an ISO problem? Why/how does it occure and how can it be fixed if it can be fixed.
What is unfixable on a computer?
Eysha.

There is nothing which is unfixable. However in some cases the fix not be considered to make economic sense. Regarding the ISO problem could it be to do with burning or reading CDs

ISO files are a disk image distribution format.

See:

for some information.

If you use a burning program you will have come across the term.

I ask because my daughter bought a brand new laptop and within days it reported an ISO fault. It was replaced but the next one is also reporting the same thing and she is wondering if it is something she did, a fault of the laptop or a programme fault. she wants to know if she can fix it herself and why it happened. she doesn't burn disks.

  Switcher 13:31 16 Jun 08

Was she using a disk at the time the fault appeared. E.G. Running a program requiring a disk to be in.

  eysha 13:33 16 Jun 08

yes, she was installing programmes.

That would tend to point to a problem with the disks which she was using especially if it was the same disks showing up the problem with two different laptops. OR possibly the cd/dvd drive if it is the removable type and was not change when the laptop was changed.

the disks worked fine on my computer and laptop and the dvd/cd drive was changed as they gave her a new laptop - we were told anyway.

The dvd drive is having problems reading a disc. Try others to see if the fault still shows up. If it does it looks like a batch of faulty drives

Many new laptops require you to burn an ISO image for backup purposes on first boot.

If your daughter has cancelled this operation, the programme may be looking for a blank DVD or CD in order to create theses disc images.

Refer to the manual or supplier for further info.

Make and model of Laptop would help too!
