What happened to Multi-tasking

  Seth Haniel 14:07 12 Nov 07

XP sp2 750MB Ram Celeron 2600.

If I play Windows Media or FLV files as soon as I click on any windows program ie Windows Explorer - Start Button etc the music starts to stutter and stop. Task manager shows nothing running and idle at 98%.

Didnt have this trouble on my old 496 win 98

Not connected to net - any ideas

Anti-virus taking too much processor power perhaps?

Or just a big cleanout of temp files, registry etc perhaps.

So the video is okay, only the sound? Could try reinstalling the sound driver and codecs. Does it happen with other media players?

  Seth Haniel 08:16 15 Nov 07

spotless ;) have kept on top with ccleaner regseeker etc - have closed all AVG and other running tasks and it still happens -

Earthsea - Video breaks up as well - have all the latest WMPlayer - happens with FLV player too
