What is a good speed for a CD RW drive?

  gyratingmonkey 22:41 11 Oct 03

Im trying to get a new laptop, and i think i have found a good one, but im not sure if the RW speed is slow, it is 4x, but it also has a 2x DVD RW, i don't know if that has an effect. The CD ROM speed is 24x.

Good plan?

It all depends on how impatient you are. Lower burning speed=greater reliability. I write DVD at 2 speed and it takes 30mins to fill a 4.7gb DVD. CDR at 4 speed will take about 15-20 mins to write a full 700MB on a CDR-80.

the X00 burning speeds for dvd and cd are measured differently.

for cdr x1 is around 150kb sec x4 is around 600kb sec and so on i think.dont kow exact figures but x4 dvd is quite fast i think and is not measured the same.
