What is Generic Pup?

  Deucalion 10:56 16 Mar 09

Hi everyone, Last night I ran an in depth scan with McAfee and the report said it had found the following: Generic Pup.x & Generic Pup.z. It said they were not viruses, but potentially unwanted programs. I have no idea where they came from and have no programs with this name on my computer. I did wonder if they could be spyware, but Super Anti Spyware did not pick them up when I ran it. Has anyone got any ideas as to what they are and whether they are harmful or not?
Many thanks, Deucalion

i can't find a definative answer as to whether it's good or bad,but if malwarebytes doesn't remove it and your pc is running ok and you aren't being bombarded with popups i would play it by ear.
