Have had some problems recently and would be grateful if someone could tell me what files I should find in this directory.
And should they be accessible to an administrator.
I have W2000 sp4.

this is where the registry files are located.....

As oglemire says, the config folder is where w2k stores the registry files.

The folder has many files, but the main registry files are SAM (for passwords), SECURITY, SOFTWARE, and SYSTEM.

An Administrator should be able to see them. There are other files in that folder which are hidden files. To see those other files, in My Computer, click Tools, Folder Options, View tab, and tick "Show hidden files and folders".

But there's not much you can do with these files, and don't mess around with them anyway.

You haven't said what the problem is. If you do, someone might be able to help.
