What is a Dongle please and what does it do ?

It can be a USB Blue Tooth Dongle or WiFi Dongle they do different jobs but connect to the PC or Laptop By USB

Like Woodchip said. Generically, it's a piece of hardware external to the PC that gives it additional capability. Now, they're all attached via USB, as Woodchip says, but there were dongles before USB. Back then, they were often used for security, or for validating a piece of software installed on the PC, generally attached via the serial or parallel port. As well as the WiFi and Bluetooth that Woodchip mentioned, there are also 3G dongles. There's an extent to which you could say that a USB memory stick is a type of dongle.
